Who Are Ineligible Organizations for FEMA Grants?
Across our great nation, most fire departments and EMS organizations are eligible for free government grant money through the FEMA Grants – AFG program.
These departments and organizations provide fire suppression, and emergency medical and transport services for the general public in areas not owned by the federal government. The AFG program was designed to help your local departments and organizations to be better prepared for emergency situations.
There are organizations that suppress fire that are not covered by the AFG program. Federal fire departments and fire departments contracted by the federal government that suppress fires at federal installations and on federal lands are ineligible to receive funding.
Sub-fire stations that are part of a larger department but at a different facility or location, which are controlled by a home office for their day-to-day operations are not by themselves eligible. These stations are covered by the main fire department for which they are a part of.
As part of a larger department, only one application is eligible for funding. If the applicant files multiple applications for several sub stations then all of the applications become ineligible.
Private, for-profit fire departments are not eligible to receive funding from the AFG program. This includes private fire departments located at large manufacturing plants.
Fire service associations and organizations, auxiliary organizations, local and state fire marshals, forest services, hospitals, and training offices are ineligible to receive funding.
If you are a rescue team, search team or dive team that does not provide medical services including transportation, you are not eligible for funding.
The FEMA Grants program, also knonw as the AFG Fire Grants is there to help you and help your community. This free Federal Grant Money saves lives and benefits the firefighters health and safety.
